As we get feedback from teachers, trends show up as far as what equipment is being used in schools. In this section, you will find information on popular teaching tools and alternatives for equipment being used in the classroom.
Hitachi
There are two reasons why an educator should choose Hitachi over any other projector:
1) Built-In 16W Speakers
2) Automatic Keystone Feature
No projector currently on the market has built in speakers with this much power and volume. All audio from videos and web content will be heard clearly, even by students towards the back of the class. If you were planning on purchasing a set of speakers and a projector, get them together in one convenient package. All that you need is a 3.5mm cable (the same cable used to plug mp3 players into speakers or your car stereo) and your ready to go. These cables can be found at your local electronics store for no more than five dollars.
Another great feature that new Hitachi projectors have the automatic keystone feature. These projectors have built in sensors that adjust the image automatically to ensure the image is straight and undistorted. This saves a lot of time and hassle by eliminating the need to scroll through confusing menus to get the image just right.
On top of having great features, we have noticed that Hitachi projectors are the most reliable. The projector bulbs are high quality and have a lower tendency to burn out than most projectors.
See models CPX-2010 and CPX 2510, estimated street price is $615-$680.
Lumens
Lumens document cameras have the most intuitive and user friendly interface.
The lens is suspended by an adjustable neck to allow for the most convenient user defined positions.
Their picture quality, resolution and color are excellent as well.
Lumens offers a five year replacement warranty and free ongoing teacher training.
Elmo
Simple and easy to use.
Elmo document cameras have good optics and solid technical support.
Teachers like the Elmo document cameras so much that they tend to refer to their whole projector, document camera, laptop cart setup as 'Elmo'.
With good features and a memorable name, Elmo is one of the most notable classroom standard document cameras.
Qomo
Qomo’s Prodigy Tablet is a powerful tool that frees teachers from their desks.
The Prodigy comes with bundles software that allows complete interactivity with web sites and online media. Any piece of information, images or even images of web videos can be pulled from the web and inserted into slides.
This sofware is completely free and works seamlessly with the Prodigy Tablet.
This a great substitute for an interactive white board, arguably better in some cases. The tablet has great wireless range, allowing you to use write, draw, and effectively teach without having to be anywhere near the whiteboard. The information is visible 100% of the time as you will not have to set foot in front of the projector to write.
Teach while standing, sitting, walking, or any other way your imagination allows with the Qomo Prodigy.
